Sustainability

Sustainability and corporate responsibility are important parts of our vision. Our mission is to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. The use of residual flows plays a key role in this. We prove that growing crops with residual flows is possible without compromising on quality and production.

Minerals

The mining of minerals is finite, while the minerals themselves are not lost. The use of mineral fertilizers is increasing. Minerals are transported all over the world, while residual flows are often available locally. The production of organic food crops is developing more and more. As a result, the demand for residual flows is growing.

Residual flows

Recovering minerals from residual flows is possible, but not easy. Minerals in residual flows are bound to organic substances, which slows down the absorption rate. Thanks to new techniques and production methods, we can improve the mineralization process so that the minerals are immediately available to the plant.

Circularity

The circular economy is continuously developing. Biota Nutri is contributing by making fertilizers from plant residual streams. The aim is to grow plants using organic fertilizers, obtained from residual flows from the same crop. This involves the separation of fibres, proteins and minerals.

We are committed to use local residual flows from plants, limiting water waste.

Future

More and more companies are developing meat substitutes from vegetable proteins. This will increase the need for plant-based products in the future.

We often hear that there is not enough agricultural land available to feed everyone. We believe that this is not the case. Agricultural and horticultural land is still being exhausted, causing production to decline and crops to become susceptible to diseases and pests. In many countries, a production increase of 30% is quite feasible. This means that growers have to invest more in the soil. This will reduce the disease pressure, further reduce the use of crop protection products and increase production.
